The Meeting That Changed Everything

What initially looks like a coincidence can, over time, prove to be God’s precise plan. In the case of brothers Wojtek and Maciek Jaroszko, a brief conversation in a hallway at the University of Lodz became the start of a profound transformation. It led them to a renewal of faith, a saved marriage, and the discovery of a brotherly community.

A spark in the university hallway

It all began with a visit from Jacek Peżyński, an Mt28 missionary, to the main university in Łódź. Wojtek—a student who had carried a desire for God in his heart since his teens—stumbled upon two men standing by a "worldview diagram" roll-up. Intrigued, he approached them to talk.

"Going through the diagram, we reached the question of salvation. Confident, I pointed to good deeds. Jacek’s reaction—full of questions about things I considered obvious—totally surprised me," Wojtek recalls years later. That moment of bewilderment became an impulse for action. Wojtek joined Łukasz Wysocki’s Bible group, unaware that he was starting a domino effect that would impact his family.

From a sense of duty to brotherhood

After graduation, newlyweds Wojtek and Julia moved to Warsaw.Their beginnings in the new city were complicated by the COVID pandemic. Longing for fellowship with other believers, they went to a camp in Władysławowo. There, they met Mt28 missionaries from Warsaw, including Marek, who invited Wojtek to study the Bible together online. Wojtek accepted the invitation, though—as he admits—he initially did it mostly out of a sense of duty.

The breakthrough came with an invitation to the Extreme Character Weekend, a ministry of the 4th Musketeer (4M). Wojtek participated in it twice within a year. Meeting men devoted to God inspired him so much that he began inviting his friends.

"When I heard about the Aim High (Mierz Wysoko) program, I wanted Marek to lead a group for me and my friends. However, he challenged me to lead it myself while he supported me," Wojtek recounts. Soon after, he invited his brother, Maciek, to join the group.

"Thanks to Wojtek, I returned to God many times," Maciek notes. "I saw that he was surrounding himself with people of integrity, and I wanted to get to know them myself."

Rescue at a critical moment

For Maciek, it was a critical time. He was struggling with a home renovation, caring for young children, and a marital crisis. "We had stopped talking to each other," he admits honestly. "The Aim High program saved our marriage."

"The challenge to take responsibility for my family as a man really spoke to me. I started initiating serious conversations with my wife. The first one lasted several weeks. Week after week, we kept coming back to the same topic until we fully worked through it. We saw that it worked," says Maciek.

The 4M community also proved to be a huge support. "It’s easy to get complacent and slide back into old habits, but the presence of other men keeps you mobilized. It’s a self-propelling engine for change," he concludes.

Growth through discipleship

After the Aim High course, the brothers and their friends began working with the Foundations of Discipleship material. Adam Adamus took over the mentorship of the group. "Adam became a role model for me in pursuing a relationship with God. Back then, I didn't quite know how to read the Bible, but something stirred inside me. I am passionate about it now even though it can still be a challenge," Maciek adds.

The next step was participating in Week with a Mission (Tydzień z Misją) and taking the Crown course on biblical financial stewardship. "My wife and I wanted to find a common language regarding finances, and God’s language is the best. We were surprised by how much the Bible says about work and integrity," Maciek explains. Meanwhile, Wojtek began leading his own Aim High group, which he continues to this day.

A new identity for two families

"God used Wojtek’s meetings with Mt28 missionaries to impact our entire family," Maciek summarizes. "We were average people, withering away in the daily grind. Today, we are moving in a shared direction. As brothers, we strive to walk toward God and share that with the people around us—primarily through our attitude, and sometimes through our words, even when it isn't easy."
